Our theme for 2018: Transformative collisions

Engineering new connections to re-energize and re-tool leaders

Our theme, this year, is Transformative Collisions. With this wide overarching theme, we’re going back to our (still green) roots; we’re getting back to the core of what it means to be a leader.

We believe that it’s at the intersection of commerce and creativity that we’ll find innovative and actionable solutions to the challenges of our times. In 2011, when our founders put those two C’s together, they were making worlds collide. Today, creativity is widely recognized as a key skill for any leader or organization hoping to survive, much less innovate. Today, this is no longer a collision – it’s the strong foundation upon which prosperous businesses are built.

What other collisions should we be encouraging? What revolutionary new ideas could be bred by a spark between seemingly conflicting industries, organisms and interests? What brave new oceans and worlds could be born from seemingly small bangs? Let’s look over our neighbours’ shoulders and see what solutions we could be applying to our own reality.

We already live in a world of collisions. This is a gift: we must continue to encourage shock, and face it with openness, courage and humility. Collisions are the antidote to cynicism, because they break down barriers between ideas, points of view, fields and industries. By allowing us to see the world through new lenses, they create new grounds we can build on together.

At C2 Montréal 2018, May 23-25, we will be doing what we do best: convening, re-energizing and re-tooling established and nascent leaders, innovators and creators from all industries and disciplines. Through orchestrated collisions, engaging discussions, purposeful collaboration and a vibrant environment filled to the brim with meaningful opportunities for play, we’ll help them challenge their biases, reset their imagination, identify their blind spots and build the new set of tools they’ll need for driving radical change.

Leadership, Technology, Marketing & Media, Art & Design and Impact: Five cross-industry tracks to encourage Transformative Collisions

We’ll be engineering these Transformative Collisions within and among the following transversal tracks, which we consider to be relevant across all industries:

Cultivating innovation
Embracing creativity and empowering teams to realize bold visions for a prosperous and inclusive future.

Engines of change
Big data, AI, Hyperloop, robotics and other game-changing technologies and self-fulfilling prophecies.

Stories and truths
Innovative brand experts, broadcasters, retailers and storytellers exploring new ways of reaching and engaging tomorrow’s consumer.

Making sense of the world
Taking inspiration from artists, designers and architects who dedicate their lives to shifting perspectives and expanding our universe.

Multiplying our positive effect
Rising to the challenge and seizing the opportunity, as leaders, to bring about real change.

The intersection of these tracks will make for deep-dives into mark-tech, impact philanthropy, VR and more.

A new programming approach based on a series of daily building blocks

We never shy away from shining a spotlight on evocative and provocative minds to get a good dose of inspiration. To make the most of their appearance on stage, we’re designing a new approach to programming based on a series of daily blocks:

  • The Inspiration series
We present cutting-edge projects and ideas that simply give us the goosebumps, no matter our daily focus.
  • The Experts series
We dig deeper into a track to explore the major trends impacting a particular sector.
  • The Intersections series
We curate collisions between tracks, sectors, ideas and points of view.
  • The Big Deal series
We invite world-renowned innovators to take the stage and share what they’ve learned on their journey.

Getting out of our comfort zones to experience Transformative Collisions

Innumerable collisions take place all across the C2 village over the course of the three days. Expect dozens of hands-on sessions, workshops, masterclasses and labs, thousands of braindates and surprises at every corner. In this creative environment designed to get us out of our comfort zones, 6,000 leaders from all corners of industry will be convening to inspire each other to find new solutions to real business and social challenges.

We hope you will join us.
